The Analyst provides business analytical support to Indirect Purchasing team members. The Analyst will primarily support sourcing events where he/she conducts various analyses before and after the event, including financial analysis and cost modeling. This role will also contribute toward supply chain metrics, risk management, contract support, and general reporting.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide support to the buying team by creating pre-negotiation analyses; may include, but is not limited to: supplier pricing history, commodity market forecasts, commodity history and forecasting.
-Apply the procurement process to manage low spend sourcing activity for Indirect spend
-Internal support and advocacy for eProcurement processes, including supplier setup and PO processing as needed
-Project management for Indirect sourcing team activity, including ongoing project updates, RFP progress reports, and savings reporting
-Provide in-depth cost modeling and establish benchmark comparison to evaluate indirect spend for restaurant and corporate activities.
-Participate in discussions to help influence and drive decisions to reduce costs, mitigate risks, optimize buying approach and strategically plan for business needs.
-Supports sourcing events though data collection related to RFPs (e.g., historical pricing by supplier and center, formula pricing, usage forecasts, market updates, currency exchange rates)
-Performs financial analysis (tiered formula pricing, opportunity cost, labor cost modeling, should-cost modeling) for bid and makes financial recommendation to team to award bid
-Analyze supplier costing models and provide negotiating and cost savings insights to purchasing
-Document and report financial impacts of sourcing events and ensure monthly alignment with Purchasing Analysis.
-In conjunction with Supply Chain Management and Purchasing Analysis, conduct investment analysis associated with department initiatives, including working capital, eProcurement, contract compliance, and risk management
-Performs proactive data mining to find sourcing opportunities in G&A and non-food operating costs
-Work with internal stakeholders to assess current business processes and identify opportunities for optimization
-Provide ad-hoc analyses as needed to support Purchasing and Supply Chain decisions.
-Support efforts to assess and monitor compliance related to contract requirements
-Leverage Supply Chain knowledge to provide value-added activities
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
-Expertise in Excel, particular focus on financial modeling a plus
-Strong data mining skills with Darden systems (BI, Oracle, iKitchen)
-Strong analytical skills and familiarity with cost modeling and analysis
-Experience with procurement operations and requisition tools (Ariba, Coupa, etc.)
-Bachelor’s Degree required, Finance or Economics concentration a plus
OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
-Two to four years’ experience in financial or operational analysis
-Considered knowledgeable with purchasing / buying negotiation tactics
-Working knowledge of procurement and payment processes
-Strong knowledge of Darden’s purchasing practices
-Strong organizational skills and excellent follow-through
-Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
-Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines with accurate and concise analysis
-Ability to confidentially interact with and present to all levels of Darden management
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
