JOB OVERVIEW:

The Beverage Sr. Buyer will work directly with enterprise category directors and managers of spirits, wine, and beer as well as the purchasing manager for non-alcoholic beverages to develop and execute beverage strategy and innovation for the Darden portfolio of brands with a heavy focus on Yard House. Role includes beverage project management, training and education in partnership with training department, operationalizing beverage rollouts and supplier communications. This role has extensive contact with other departments and high visibility within the company and externally with major suppliers and distributors. Functions with minimal supervision and under general direction.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

-Partners with directors and managers of beverage to prioritize and manage the day-to-day beverage operational needs of the business with a heavy focus on Yard House.

-Acts as key expert for beer category – sourcing, product offering and geographical mapping.

-Ensures smooth Cicerone training program rollouts and collaborates with operations on measuring and activating results for Yard House.

-Partners with brand finance/analytics teams to uncover insights in consumer purchase patterns.

-Develops programming that is relevant to Yard house’s guest base.

-Monitors, tracks, evaluates and develops plans to improve Yard House beverage performance including sales and speed of service opportunities.

-Manages operational execution of beverage project rollouts primarily for Yard House.

-Leads beer distributor and supplier relationship management and communications.

-Partners on production of all internal beverage training materials for Yard House

-Leads beverage menu rollouts across all beer platforms

-Partners with wine and spirits Rollouts as needed as well as experiential LTOs.

-Participates in new restaurant openings by ensuring all processes and procedures are optimized.

-Acts as AccuBar inventory expert for beverage department, partner with catalogue team on needs.

-Participate in team tasks and other duties as assigned.

-All duties are to be completed accurately and prioritized in order to meet required deadlines.


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

-Minimum 5+ years in the hospitality and/or beverage industry

-Extensive beer knowledge – Certified Beer Server Level 1 or higher

-Proficient in Windows environment – Word, Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skill level

-Sophisticated negotiation skills and RFP management

-Strong multi-tasking abilities in an extremely fast-paced environment with an ability to innovate


REQUIRED EDUCATION:

-Bachelor’s degree (Hospitality, Business or related field) preferred

OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

-Positive, can do attitude

-Ability to navigate in the corporate environment

-Sense of urgency and pride of ownership in results

-Beverage category experience

-Ability to represent Darden Restaurants and the Purchasing Department in a professional manner

-Strong organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication skills

-Results / Detail oriented

-Self-motivated with excellent follow-through

-Ability to maintain confidentiality


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

-Experience leading others in beverage roll outs

-Level 2 cicerone preferred

-Bar Smarts certification preferred

-2+ years Mixology experience
