The Legal Systems Analyst is responsible for leading analysis of law department data and systems as well as providing guidance and support on programs and initiatives. This position leads department projects and implementations, works closely with department leadership and key finance and technology partners, optimizes workflows, and ensures accuracy in department reporting and systems.


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

-Analyzes and provides support to legal team on department systems and processes

-Creates and maintains documentation for critical department processes, procedures, and workflows

-Leads legal systems projects, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, testing change management, and ongoing support

-Develops and implements strategies to proactively address challenges

-Offers guidance and oversight to resolve systems and data challenges

-Serves as technical lead for e-billing/matter management systems, imaging systems, and legal hold system

-Performs monthly review/audit of legal invoices, including analysis for compliance with billing policies and quarterly accruals

-Partners with internal finance and accounting teams to address exceptions in the legal and finance systems payment file transfer to ensure adherence with GAAP requirements

-Analyzes and synthesizes business requirements, including conceptualizing processes and conducting workflow analysis to find efficiencies.

-Trains legal team on technology solutions and financial reporting obligations

-Partners with vendors to provide support and resolve technical issues


REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

-Ability to analyze large amounts of information to interpret and make recommendations regarding trends

-Proven track record of leading technical projects

-Demonstrates excellent program and project management skills, showing leadership and accountability

-Demonstrates strong listening and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical requirements and train others

-Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

-Ability to understand and implement compliance requirements for legal billing and records management programs

-Demonstrates strong working knowledge of Excel, Oracle financial management tools (Hyperion, Discoverer), and other data management, reporting and analytics tools

-Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, character and integrity


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

-Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related technical field


-5 years of experience in systems or program administration in a corporate legal or finance department that includes:

-Analyzing data and information

-Working with eBilling and matter management systems

-Leading technical projects and processes

-Assessing and implementing technology tools

-Taking initiative to identify and resolve challenges

-Effectively managing multiple, concurrent projects

-Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

-Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organization

-Works well in a team-focused environment


PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

PMP or other relevant certification a plus
