The IT Quality/Business Analyst role fulfills both the business analyst and quality analyst roles for applications and systems development. The Quality/Business Analyst contributes to shaping technology demands and driving quality on Darden projects. The quality/business analyst acts to define, analyze, and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which applications and solutions are developed. This role functions defines and executes the test strategy to provide objective evidence that system and application requirements are met. This role is hands-on and requires strategic thinking and planning to ensure all requirements are met for overall quality of the intended solutions both functionally and technically.


-Work closely with stakeholders throughout the software life cycle to ensure that applications meet acceptance criteria and the needs of the users. Following SDLC methodology, ensure requirements artifacts are created and approved.

-Work with systems analyst and/or application development teams during the technical design, coding, testing and implementation stages. Conduct walkthroughs with application development teams as a handoff from analysis to development in the system development life cycle (SDLC).

-Manage, document and coordinate changes to functional specifications occurring during all phases of the SDLC and updates business rules, functional and non-functional specifications accordingly.

-Develop test strategies and test cases for work items within the current delivery and ensure applications are ready for release following the release schedule.

-Perform testing using a variety of test methodologies, including manual, exploratory, and automated testing. Detect, triage and track software defects and inconsistencies.

-Create, maintain and improve user stories, test cases, test plans, and other documentation for projects.

-Review, analyze, and supplement requirement specifications, and ensure 100% test coverage.

-Collaborate in efforts to improve QA practices, including software test design, coverage and execution, customer defect verification, test automation, software metrics and technical reviews


-Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in software testing or business analyst role

-Exposure to agile and waterfall methodologies, and understanding of how deliverables may be tailored for different project needs.

-Ability to lead requirements gathering effort consulting with Product Manager, and other stakeholders.

-Experience in functional and regression test, including automated test or manual test definition and execution.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts


-BS/BA in Business Administration, MIS, Computer Science, or Mathematics


-Ability to create user experience visualizations/flows/diagrams.

-Experience in identifying and documenting positive and negative use cases.

-Ability to define test strategies and user acceptance criteria

-Experience with SDLC management tools such as MicroFocus ALM, JIRA, Azure Test Suite


-Restaurant experience a plus

-Formal process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean a plus

-Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) or Certified Software Tester (CSTE) preferred.
